I’m Nick.
I am good at motion graphic design.
I have been doing it for seventeen years.
I have keyframes tattooed on my hands.
I have broad experience working in sports, live television, beauty, tech, documentary… you name it.
I have designed for screens of every size, from 100 ft. stages down to phone screens.
As a designer I love to make snappy, concise work that elevates all the work around it. My chief aspiration for every job, regardless of style, is elegance. I do this using math-driven design to make pixel-perfect graphics and organic elements (hand drawn & practical footage) to humanize the overall look. I feel strongly that because this industry is entirely piped through computers, there should be effort made whenever possible to individualize every project and soften the experience for viewers.
I love to solve problems. Design problems, technical problems, workflow problems… it’s all solutions to me, baby!
What really excites me about design is solving problems with clients and maximizing every resource so that projects not only look good but they are enjoyable to work on. That means taking the time to do things “correctly” so that reacting to client needs and notes as the air-date approaches is as simple as possible. Most times that just means staying organized but it can go much further.
I have built templates for clients. I have built projects that port spreadsheets into After Effects so data is easily updated and I have even programmed automatic scripts that update and render changes as they are made. The most complete automation I have built involved creating a python-based computer vision application that reframes footage per shot, and renders individual versions as needed. Not the sexiest design qualification but for anyone who has had to create dozens of versions (9x16, 1x1, 4x3) of their work, it’s a life-saver.
I live in Brooklyn with my wife and two kids. I draw every day.
